Hisae
Subjects: Math, AP Calculus, & IB Math
Grade Levels: 9-12
Available For: Remote Tutoring
Need help in AP Calculus AB or IB Math Courses? I am here for you! I taught all levels of high school mathematics at an international school for 14 years. Toward the end of my career there, my main assignment was to teach AP calculus AB and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses. After retiring in 2020, I have been helping IB, HLAI, SLAI, and SLAA students get ready to sit their IB exams. I'm in a unique position to tutor them because I have been an IB examiner (I mark IB papers for the IB Organization) since 2017. I am very familiar with their syllabus topics, and I can assist students in learning about "dos and do nots" of answering exam style questions. Learning math doesn’t have to be a struggle. Oftentimes, students feel frustrated because they have not quite mastered the rules required to solve a certain type of questions. Let me help you in mastering those rules so that you feel confident in communicating in the language of mathematics.

Prior to relocating to Louisville in 2020, I variously taught French, Latin, Ancient History, and AP English Literature at private schools in New York and Connecticut. I'm a devoted teacher and scholar. I feel one of my most endearing traits is my ability to listen to students; another, is my compassion, both of which I believe are absolutely fundamental in establishing a meaningful relationship with my students, one that is conducive to learning.

My name is Ron. I first attended Michigan State University obtaining a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Later I attended Wayne State University in the Master of Arts in Teaching program where I obtained my Secondary Education Certification, Physics Major, and Mathematics Minor. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Philosophy (Sacred Heart Major Seminary), Masters in Theology (Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome) and a Canon Law Degree (Catholic University of America, Washington DC). I am an experienced educator having taught for nine years at Brother Rice HS in Birmingham, MI. In that time I taught Honors Physics, Regular Physics, Algebra I and Algebra II. While at Brother Rice I was also the Varsity Swim Coach where we won several state titles. I have also tutored students throughout the years, some in middle school, high school, as well as students preparing for the MCAT. I spent 19 years as a Catholic Priest; though I left the formal priesthood, I continue to carry my deep faith with me today. I have several interests that vary widely: sports, theater, cooking, traveling, and being with family and friends. I am an extrovert by nature and wear that label well. I have always been focused on the education of our youth. My goal, as an educator and coach, is to help produce fine young people who can make the world a better place. As a teacher of physics and algebra, I pushed all my students, no matter the level, to be better than they thought they could be. As a coach I look at the person the athlete can become, not the athlete. I look forward to helping your child be the best he/she can be.
Chandler
Subjects: All Subjects, & SAT/ACT/GRE
Grade Levels: 7-12, College
Available For: Remote Tutoring
Hello, my name is Chandler! I’m a graduate of Hillsdale College with a deep love of learning things and then explaining them to people. Having majored in philosophy, I thrive in one-on-one conversation and digging down to the ultimate meaning of things. I have five years of experience in Latin, and more than ten years of experience in music as a classical violinist/violist, including as an All-State performer and scholarship holder at my alma mater. My personal favorite topics of interest are philosophy, theology, and English, but I am willing to tutor for just about any subject matter. I took many AP classes at my former high-school and have experience taking and studying for the SAT, ACT, CLT, and GRE. I’m a patient, easy-to-get-along-with person who enjoys relating to younger people. I already have some experience tutoring high school students in math and have found that age to be easy to engage with intellectually, but would love to expand my outreach to middle school students, as well.
Garrit
Subjects: Physics, Math, Science, & Engineering
Grade Levels: 7-12, College
Available For: Remote Tutoring
I was born and raised in Petoskey, Michigan where I worked hard to get ahead in my education, and graduated from MSU with a physics degree at the age of 20. Like most other students, I prefer other activities to studying. In my case, these are tennis, spikeball, pickleball, and spending time with my friends and family. I can maintain time for these and succeed in my education through intelligent learning practices. I’ve found that deeply understanding a base concept and logically problem-solving to a solution removes countless hours of study time and improves retention. Math and science doesn't have to be confusing, and I’d be happy to prove it. I am available to tutor any math and science subjects that are commonly studied in high school or early college, but feel free to inquire...I may be able to help in other subjects, as well.
